WHAT IS THERAPY?
Individual therapy usually consists of weekly, sometimes bi-weekly, sessions that last approx 50 minutes (in case you were wondering….those last 10 minutes we use to transition between clients, to prepare for each individuals treatment).
Overall length of treatment is decided between you and me and is typically based on you reaching your treatment goals we outline at the beginning of treatment. Family Therapy generally involves the whole family.
We will start with the parents, taking a family history and then meeting with the other members to get their perspective on the family and finally meet with everyone together to discuss the family treatment goals. From there, meeting with individuals separately can be in order, this depends on the issues outlined for treatment.
